Life is looking sweet for pals Olivia Finlay and Adele White.

The pair came up with a new way of selling old-fashioned sweets – and have set up what they call “the best sweet shop on the net.”

Their old-fashioned pick ‘n’ mix varieties – the treats adults remember from their childhood – are sold online at Molly’s Mixtures and mailed the length and breadth of the country and beyond.

Many a nostalgic order has been sent as far away as Europe, the USA, Brazil and even China.

Adele and Olivia, from Rotherham and Sheffield, stock over 900 different sweets on their new website and are dispatching over 200 parcels a day from the site at Fusion near Magna.

Retro British sweets – Black Jacks, Fruit Salad chews, sherbet lollies, milk gums, cola bottles and the like – are loved the world over, say the women, who set up in 2010 but were able to expand thanks to guidance and support from Rotherham Council’s Investment and Development Office.

The pair are finding some unusual outlets for their wares, too. They are busy packing retro sweets off to brides organising favours for reception guests and businesses wanting to send out quirky corporate gifts.
