Pryor Marking Technology scooped the Innovation category at the recent Made in Sheffield Awards.
The judges highlighted the company as an example of history being no barrier to innovation and praised it for reinventing itself over the years to go from “marking cutlery to marking cars”.
They also applauded its recent success in securing major orders for complete robotic marking systems for automotive factories in the UK and China.
David Ray, technical director at Pryor Marking Technology, said: “Traceability is a critical part of the modern manufacturing process, especially in the safety-critical aerospace and automotive sectors. We believe that, by working closely with our customers to develop bespoke systems that meet their specific needs, we have played a key role in their on-going success, and the award is validation of this strategy.
The Made in Sheffield brand is co-owned by the Company of Cutlers, Sheffield City Council and Sheffield Chamber of Commerce.
The company was also shortlisted for the SME category at the awards.
