Plans to put a number of tables and chairs in Barnsley town centre precinct have been temporarily put on hold due to a delivery delay.

The sets were due to be delivered this week, in time for the August Bank Holiday, but the supplier has told Barnsley Council bosses they cannot be dispatched for at least another week.

Coun Roy Miller, cabinet spokesman for place, said he was disappointed by the delay.

He said: We look forward to receiving the delivery of the chairs within the next couple of weeks. They will be a welcome addition to the exciting changes taking place in the town centre.”
