Store plan protest row

Have your say

MORE than 1,000 people have signed a protest petition against resurrected plans by Tesco to convert a former Sheffield garage into a new Express store.

Original plans for the site on Ecclesall Road South, Parkhead, were refused planning permission three years ago due to concerns about large vehicles parking on the busy road outside.

The revised scheme submitted by Tesco has a different layout and new delivery arrangements.

Consultants for Tesco say all previous grounds for objection have been overcome.

Their application said the store would be ‘high quality’ and include a car park.

Opponents say the scheme is not needed as there is a convenience store nearby.
