PLAYERS from Harworth Colliery FC were on hand to officially open the new Asda on Scrooby Road, Harworth, as they hope to build further links with the store.

Seventeen junior and senior players were invited to cut the ribbon by store manager Richard Terry, in recognition of the colliery site the store now occupies, and receive a £100 gift card. The 14,400 sq ft supermarket has created 85 jobs.

“We wanted to ensure our opening included members of the local community, and what better way than to use the historic link between the colliery and store?” he said.
