Store late hours bid approved

ASDA has been granted a licence for extra hours at a Sheffield store.

The company applied to open from earlier in the morning and for an extra hour at night at its Manor Top store.

Neighbouring residents had objected to the application, which was considered at a meeting of Sheffield Council’s licensing board.

Residents had complained of the impact of extra traffic and litter since the former Netto store was taken over by Asda, plus fears about youths gathering outside.

But Asda was permitted to open until midnight, not 11pm, seven days a week.
