Electronics engineer Stefan Suchacki is hoping to hit the right chord and pump up the volume for his new enterprise.
Stefan, who lives in Goldthorpe near Barnsley, studied Aerospace Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University before working as an electronics engineer for some of Norway’s leading oil production companies.
In his spare time he’s a keen guitarist and, when he couldn’t find a new amplification system that met his exacting standards, he set about designing his own.
Two years on, Stefan has set up his own business - Vonhatski Amplification - with help from Rotherham Investment and Development Office, and is already picking up awards and some prestigious clients.
Stefan’s all-valve system was named Best Product and Guitarist’s Choice in the Guitarist Magazine Awards.
His company has secured a deal to supply equipment to Greg Bone, the lead guitarist in Ronan Keating’s band, in addition to supplying Swedish Metal band Sister Sin and UK rock bands Hells Addiction and Falling Red.
Now he’s targeting further expansion in Europe and the US.
“We are the only British company that designs and manufactures its products here, using British components – it’s something I’m really proud of,” says Stefan.
Stefan’s business is based at Century Business Centre in the Dearne Valley, not far from his home, and is growing with help and support from RiDO’s Soft Landing Zone.
The European Union-funded zone helps Rotherham companies to access international markets. Stefan was also able to get a grant to buy new IT equipment from UK Steel Enterprise and help from Enterprise Europe, which means his products will be advertised internationally.
RiDO’s Julia Millea has helped Stefan to secure support and get his product catalogue translated into Japanese.
She said: “It has been fantastic to work with Stefan and to see his business taking off so quickly. We hope to be able to support his continued expansion across Europe and the USA – it’s a great South Yorkshire success story.”
