CYCLISTS have extra room to park their bikes when they catch a train from Sheffield after an extra 130 bicycle parking spaces were installed at Midland Station.
Funding for the facilities has been provided by East Midlands Trains and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.
The new cycle spaces are located at the rear of the disabled car park near the entrance to Sheffield station. Enhanced CCTV coverage has also been provided to ensure cyclists can leave their bikes safely and securely.
Andy Moore, head of stations for East Midlands Trains, said: “We’re currently investing around £10 million to improve our stations and have introduced improved cycle facilities at 29 stations.”
The aim is to get more people biking to catch the train.
