Around 300 guests of Investec Wealth & Investment (IW&I) helped to raise more than £50, 000 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and the Lord’s Taverners charity at the Sunshine Ball at Sheffield City Hall.
It was held to help support the Investec Ashes 2015 Cycle Challenge, in which 100 staff and guests of the firm completed a gruelling 300 mile cycle ride over four days between the five Ashes Test Match grounds: Old Trafford, Trent Bridge, Edgbaston, Lord’s and Kia Oval.
The ball was attended by former England cricketer and Strictly Come Dancing champion Darren Gough, who is the ambassador for the challenge.
In addition, former England cricketer Ronnie Irani was host for the evening, with entertainment provided by comedian and rapper Chris Turner and music by electronic violinist Alexandra and four piece band the English Gentlemen.
The money was raised through an auction and prizes included a football shirt signed by Steven Gerrard, tickets for the Ashes series at Lord’s and an Ed Sheeran-signed T-Shirt.
