Stallholders learn the ‘wow factor’ for move

Globally-renowned training has been provided to give market traders the ‘wow factor’ when they move to Sheffield’s new Moor Market in the autumn.

Retail training organisation the Source Academy has given help to 120 stallholders under the WorldHost scheme – to create a ‘thriving and theatrical’ market experience for local shoppers and tourists alike.

Dianne Wainwright, business development manager at The Source Academy, said: “We first engaged with the market and its traders through our mystery shopper programme, which gave individual and overall feedback on customer service and the whole shopping experience at their current home, Castle Market.

“We found there was a real appetite for training and up-skilling – particularly in customer service.

“What was clear to us was all the traders and the stakeholders were committed to creating a shopping experience with the ‘wow factor’; a thriving, theatrical and welcoming environment.”

The aim of the WorldHost training is to give Sheffield the ‘essence to rival the famous UK markets such as Portobello and Camden’.
