Seren Photonics, the Sheffield University spin-out that develops revolutionary LED lighting technology, has secured a £230,000 grant from the national innovation agency, the Technology Strategy Board.

The company, which is backed by university research commercialisation company Fusion IP, will use the grant to fund the development of advanced nano-technology to further increase the amount of light created by its high brightness LEDs.

Earlier this year, Seren raised £1.8 million after signing a deal with a major manufacturer for its technology to be used in India.
