Solicitor retires after 40 years

A SENIOR Rotherham solicitor is retiring after a career in the region’s legal community stretching back over 40 years.

Barry Long, senior partner at Oxley and Coward, joined the firm in 1970 as an articled clerk and qualified as a solicitor two years later.

He has lived in Rotherham since 1977 and is now looking forward to ‘hanging up his boots’ and spending more time with the family.

But Barry doesn’t expect all ties to be severed with the firm that has been such an important part of his life for the best part of half a century.

“I hope I will continue to be useful to Oxley and Coward in terms of networking and new business development,” he said.

“My wife already has an extensive jobs list for me to do, plus I will be spending more time with my two daughters.”
