SILICON Valley and Sheffield-based software group WANdisco today becomes the first Yorkshire business to float on the UK stock market since 2010.

Sheffield-born co-founder David Richards revealed last month that the company planned to float to raise money to open up new markets, develop new products and explore new possibilities.

The flotation on the Alternative Investment Market values the company at £37 million and was completed with backing from international law firm DLA Piper’s corporate team in Sheffield.

WANdisco’s chief financial officer, Nick Parker, said: “We are looking forward to the next chapter for the business and making the most of the opportunities this listing will bring.”

Mr Parker praised the professionalism and dedication of the DLA Piper team, who had “made a significant contribution to the success of the IPO.”
