SMEs miss out on aid

Yorkshire businesses are missing out on Government support designed to help them boost growth and improve their environmental impact, according to new research by Yorkshire Bank.

The Bank says fewer than one in four Yorkshire SMEs are aware that the schemes exist and only five per cent of UK SMEs surveyed had taken advantage of them.

David Towers, managing partner of Yorkshire Bank’s South Yorkshire Financial Solutions Centre, said: “While there are a range of incentive schemes available to businesses, it appears that few businesses are aware of what initiatives they can access and how.

“While not all funding and relief schemes are green-focused, there are a number of environmental initiatives which could benefit a business’ bottom line, as well as help them improve their green credentials, such as the Renewable Heat Incentive, Feed-In Tariffs and the Green Deal.”
