A photography firm, specialising in family portraits in clients own homes, is growing after receiving support from the Barnsley-based SmartStart mentoring programme.
Former trainee jockey and dog grooming apprentice Amy Law has always had a passion for photography, but needed help to turn her dream into a reality.
“Setting up a business can be quite daunting. It can also be quite lonely,” said Amy, 22, from Athersley.
“Through SmartStart I’ve received free business support and help with my website. My business is a bit different because I travel to customers’ homes and set up my professional studio there.
“I also offer dog grooming services and I’ve even done family portraits where the dog has had a make-over and been included in the shoot!”
Amy Law Photography – www.amylawphotography.com – now operates out of the GENESIS workspace at Barnsley Business and Innovation Centre, which is also home to SmartStart.
In addition to family portraits, Amy also photographs weddings and other events.
Lyndsey Maw, operations manager at BBIC, said: “Amy is a very talented photographer and her business idea was solid.”
