JELD-WEN UK, the Sheffield-based joinery manufacturer, has become the 1,000th company to sign the Proskills Sustainable Workforce Skills Pledge, which commits companies in the process and manufacturing sectors to invest in training their employees.
The company employs 1,800 staff and is one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of timber doors, windows and stairs.
Managing director Mike Ward said: “We signed the Skills pledge to show our commitment to our staff and our dedication to improving the company through investing in our employees. Businesses succeed on the strength and skills of their workforce and we look forward to the benefits it will bring to our people.”
Proskills chief executive, Terry Watts, said reaching 1,000 signatories was a real achievement for the sector.
