Silversmiths, the place Gordon Ramsay turned around, ended up scooping an award from under the noses of the city’s only Michelin-starred restaurant.
It pipped Tessa Bramley’s Old Vicarage, plus Michelin Bib Gormand holders Artisan and long-esteemed Rafters, to become Eat Sheffield’s Favourite British Restaurant.
“To be chosen as the public’s favourite from names I have always looked upon as the creme de la creme is unbelievable,” said owner Justin Rowntree. “A massive thank you goes to our customers – this is down to them.”
Silversmiths, featured in Channel 4’s Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares in 2009, also won Green and Sustainable award.
