South Yorkshire is 4th out of 36 areas nationally for the number of claimants helped to set up their own business.
Some 2,000 people across the county have now signed off benefits and are independently trading thanks to the Government’s New Enterprise Allowance, new figures show.
Mentoring and training as part of the free service is delivered by Doncaster Chamber working with Sheffield Enterprise Agencye and Barnsley&Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, funded with a grant from the Department for Work and Pensions.
