SIG, the Sheffield-based leading European distributor of specialist building products, says it is confident of outperforming the market during 2012 even though the previously expected recovery is unlikely to materialse, thanks to the euro crisis.
Chief executive Chris Davies says the Sheffield Business Park-based group has outperformed the market by around three per cent since 2009.
“Although markets might be difficult in 2012, we will continue to outperform the market,” said Mr Davies.
SIG says it has now completed its major restructuring programme and the announcement in last week’s trading update that it plans to make an annual saving of £5 million by rationalising its branch network is part of “normal housekeeping,” said Mr Davies.
“We are shutting a number of trading locations and that will be offset by new trading locations opening elsewhere,” Mr Davies added.
