Shopping complex Meadowhall’s part-owner, London & Stamford, could be poised to put its 50 per cent stake up for sale.
The property investor and its Middle Eastern partners paid around £590 million two years ago for their stake in the 1.5 million square foot shopping centre, which attracts 30 million visitors, and are believed to have hopes of raising £1.6 billion from a sale.
Reports suggest British Land - which bought the complex for £1 billion in 1999 - might also be keen to sell.
British Land was prepared to sell a 50 to 75 per cent stake in Meadowhall in 2007 but abandoned the idea.
London & Stamford decliend to comment.
