Shopping mall’s awards success

Meadowhall Shopping Centre has picked up two national marketing awards at an awards ceremony hosted by rugby player and Strictly Come Dancing star Austin Healey.

The centre scored success at the Purple Apple Awards in London.

One win was for the Public and Media Relations category, in recognition for its Toy Tester initiative, which saw an 11-year-old selected as ‘Meadowhall’s Chief Toy Tester’ last summer.

The initiative generated exposure on national TV and national newspapers.

Meadowhall’s 2011 Christmas Light Switch On concert, featuring top performers Tinchy Stryder, Matt Cardle and Cover Drive and attended by more than 10,000 people, was awarded a merit in the event category.
