It has more than 8,000 companies, 200,00 employees and two series of fantasy hit Game of Thrones were filmed there – welcome to hot new destination Belfast.

The Northern Irish capital is a short hop from Sheffield City Region after LinksAir last week launched twice- daily service from Robin Hood Airport.

Flights are timed to deliver people into the city for the start of the working day – and get them home for tea.

Belfast claims to have two-thirds of Northern Ireland’s 50 largest companies and one half of foreign-owned companies. Fares on the 70-minute flight start from £64 which includes all axes and airport charges.

Roger Hage, of LinksAir, said: “This is a great day for LinksAir as we celebrate the launch of flights from Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield. The Yorkshire airport is now our fourth aircraft and crew base.

“Belfast is a vibrant city and there is clear demand from Sheffield City Region.”
