PENSIONERS and disabled shoppers will be offered a helping hand at an event at a Doncaster shopping centre later this week.
The Frenchgate shopping centre, in the town centre, will be putting on special helpers on Thursday after bosses announced they will hold an evening for the elderly and disabled.
Centre manager Amanda Phillips said: “Holding an evening for people who cannot normally get out to shop, for whatever reason that may be, is something that we are committed to doing.
“We want people of all ages and from all walks of life to be able to come and enjoy the Frenchgate Shopping Centre, so if that means having special staff on hand then that is what we will do.”
The evening event will see staff provided to be on hand to help with bags, point out the nearest lifts and escalators, and generally help in any way they can.
“With Christmas coming up, some people may feel the centre can be too busy or they simply don’t feel confident coming out to shop without support. Our message is that we have that support here on November 24,” added Ms Phillips.
The specially organised evening will run from 4pm until 8pm.
The Frenchgate Centre is one of the largest shopping centres in South Yorkshire and is next to the bus and train stations.
