Kier Sheffield apprentice bricklayer Nathan Fairfax is celebrating after recognition in a regional award scheme.

Nathan came runner-up in the recognising excellence and achievement in training and development award for the South Yorkshire Construction Training Group.

Fending off competition from across the region, Nathan’s ‘hard work and commitment’ were recognised at a ceremony at Cutlers Hall.

Nathan, who is in the third year of his apprenticeship, was presented with the award by Nick Sangwin, chairman of sponsors the National Federation of Builders.

Phil Oades, Kier operations director, said: “Nathan is a shining example.”
