No peeking, Alec – The Star’s Win a Wedding bride-to-be Diane Eyre has chosen the design for her wedding dress.
Diane, aged 38, and fiancé Alec Smith won a £15,000 wedding in The Star’s hotly contested competition.
One of the highlights of the prize package was the chance to have a bespoke wedding gown made by designer Kelly Marie Redhead.
Kelly, aged 23, of Springvale Road, Crookes, was a finalist in the best student designer of the year category at the Bridal Buyer Awards 2013.
She is now making Diane’s dress and a bridesmaid’s dress for maid of honour, Sharon Smith.
Kelly said: “Diane has been fantastic – one of the best brides-to-be I have had. She knew exactly what she wanted.
“We have put together the parts of the design she liked best from a number of dresses and we’ve looked through lots of fabrics.
“The process will involve numerous fittings to make it a perfect fit and exactly what she wants.”
The dress will be ready in September, about a month before project manager Alec, aged 47, and Diane tie the knot in the Grade-II listed Victorian pavilions at Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens on Friday, October 3.
Sales assistant Diane, of Lindholme Drive, Rossington, Doncaster, said: “Kelly has been fantastic. She has been there when I had a dilemma over which dress to choose – she was there straightaway, texting me and then a phone call.
“She has been there throughout and honestly, she couldn’t have done any more for me.”
Alec and Diane’s wedding will be followed by a photo shoot worth £1,249 in the Botanical Gardens with photographer Lloyd Siddall, before they are whisked to Whirlowbrook Hall for a three-course wedding breakfast and afternoon tea for 40 guests.
The venue will also host an evening buffet for 80 complete with DJ.
Joy Hersey-Todd, the couple’s wedding planner, of Unique Wedding Planning, said: “Everything is on track.
“We have got all the main things done now, which means Alec and Diane can relax and enjoy the rest of the wedding journey.
“The main thing is they enjoy this time.”
