Sheffield University graduates are among the best paid in the country - earning an average of £49,000 a year five years after completing their studies.
An anonymous national survey of over 35,000 graduates carried out by website Emolument.com found Sheffield alumni were the seventh best paid in the country.
They are only lagging behind Oxford and Cambridge, the London School of Economics and three specialist business schools.
The new ‘rich list’ shows Sheffield University graduates are financially punching above their weight - on academic results the institution ranks in 26th place.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul White, said: “The University of Sheffield works hard to extend both the disciplinary knowledge of its students, and their broader skills for employment.
“It is gratifying to see the success of our students in moving into well-paid positions. Clearly their experiences and life chances have been enriched by studying with us.”
The best paid graduates come from the London Business School, with average salaries of £69,000 a year.
Sheffield ranks ahead of former students from Edinburgh, Birmingham, Durham, Bath, Aston and Bristol.
