Supermarket bosses have rebranded a Sheffield store – following complaints from customers about its name.

Asda opened a new store on Beighton Road East, Drakehouse in March, calling it Asda Sheffield Mosborough after a neighbouring Sheffield Council ward.

However, the name sparked complaints from shoppers, who pointed out the store is more than a mile from Mosborough village.

Following the complaints, Asda asked customers what it could be called – and has now unveiled its new name.

It held a poll on Facebook, asking for customers to vote for one of four options: Asda Sheffield Crystal Peaks; Asda Sheffield Drakehouse; Asda Sheffield Beighton Road; or keeping the name Asda Sheffield Mosborough.

Steve Ryan, who has just taken over as the new store manager at Asda said: “We listened to our customers and following a vote on our Facebook poll, a new name has officially been chosen for the store which is now called Asda Sheffield Drakehouse.

“Thanks to everyone who took part in the poll.”
