Top hairdresser Darren Ambrose shared top tips on how to create some sensational styles on a new Sheffield college’s official launch day.
The three-times UK Hairdresser of the Year talked to students at W Academy and Education in the city centre, which offers a range of job-related courses.
Darren, famed for his adventurous and avant-garde styles, worked with hairdressing students throughout the day.
He said: “I was delighted to be part of the launch event, witnessing for myself the talent of today’s up and coming stars within the hairdressing industry.
“Understanding and learning the basics of any trade will take you everywhere, helping to ensure you have the right foundations from which to develop a successful, ongoing career.”
The new centre, which has 50 staff, offers state of the art facilities and is already providing apprenticeships for more than 500 young people.
Its aim is to offer training and employment opportunities to young people in the region, in an economic climate where finding work is incredibly difficult.
Courses available include barbering, hospitality, customer service, accountancy, management and business administration training.
Paul Wildes, academy chairman, said: “It has never been harder for young people to get a first step on the career ladder. The situation today is incredibly tough.
“We know that through the apprenticeships and training courses we offer that we are making a real difference to some of the young people in our area’s employment prospects.”
