Sheffield student Jack Crofts showed real passion for his product to scoop second prize in a national enterprise competition.

The 17-year-old, from Stocksbridge, who attends the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy at Sheffield College, won £1,250 in the Edge Challenge.

Jack has developed a company specialising in Vicuna luxury wool products and will use the prize money to take his plans further.

He had to submit a detailed and viable business proposal, including financial and marketing plans, alongside hopefuls from all over the country.

Jack made the final five entries, which were judged by a panel at The Skills Show in Birmingham.

He said: “I’m really excited to have been involved in the Edge Challenge and coming second is a real achievement.

“I am so passionate about my product and this opportunity will help me turn my business idea into a reality.

“Meeting so many like-minded people has been inspiring and made me determined to succeed as an entrepreneur.”

Jack received his prize from Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.

Jan Hodges, for the Edge Foundation, said: “I wholeheartedly congratulate Jack on his achievement in our second Edge Challenge.”
