Sheffield has been ranked fourth in a league table of cities for the most online transactions during Black Friday.
According to Postcode Anywhere 11,940 purchases were made online in Sheffield on Black Friday and 8,679 on Cyber Monday.
Top of the league table was London followed by Birmingham, Glasgow, Sheffield and Manchester.
Guy Mucklow, CEO and co-founder of Postcode Anywhere, said: “Black Friday sales saw Britain’s most savvy shoppers logging on in huge numbers in the early hours to secure the best bargains and spend their cash.
“It proved to be the busiest e-commerce shopping day on record for many of the UK’s retailers with a 220 per cent increase on the same day last year.
“Our data showed that Cyber Monday attracted a more modest haul of spenders, but still comfortably outstripped last year’s Cyber Monday by some distance, peaking at 2.04pm with over 500 transactions taking place in a minute.
“Over the two days, online shoppers in Yorkshire were prolific spenders with over 20,000 logging on in Sheffield.
“We anticipate there will be more record breaking to come as we get closer to Christmas.”
