Leading UK investment companies and funding experts are travelling to Sheffield to outline plans to focus investment on manufacturing.

The free seminar is being staged by law firm Nabarro and the Yorkshire Association of Business Angels as part of the Global Manufacturing Festival: Sheffield event.

Nabarro partners Andrea Cropley and Ben Hendry will host the event and panel members will include Mark Owen of leading SME investor NBGI Private Equity, Ed Cottrell of specialist bank and asset manager Investec, Andrew Burton of Yorkshire Association of Business Angels, Steven Chait of asset based lending specialist Burdale Financial, James Benfield of global buyout fund Baird Capital Partners and Garry Wilson of Endless LLP, which funded the rescue of DavyMarkham.

Andrea Cropley said: “This is set to be a key event in the Festival schedule.

“The panel of experts will talk openly and frankly to manufacturers about how local companies can better prepare themselves to attract investment. We’re expecting a vigorous debate as the financial experts answer manufacturers’ concerns and queries about routes to investment. Funding is key to the growth of the manufacturing sector but for many years investors have been pre-occupied with the service sector.”

“This is now changing and investors and venture capitalists see that manufacturing has great potential for medium-term returns and long-term growth.”

The seminar takes place from 8am to 10am on Tuesday March 15, at Sheffield Digital Campus’s Electric Works. Tickets can be reserved by e-mailing: events@nabarro.com.
