The Star’s readers believe Sheffield City Council should back IKEA plans for a new store, which could create hundreds of jobs, despite traffic concerns.

That’s the overwhelming result of our latest online poll which attracted more than 400 votes with 92% saying the council should give plans the go ahead.

But there was a mixed bag of comments, including:

mjb66: IKEA creating hundreds of jobs, but how many will be full time jobs? Also IKEA would have to show what the full impact on traffic flow would be.

Comrade Door: Traffic is a feeble excuse for turning away a development of this size. When was the last time a business brought 700 private sector jobs of any kind to the city?
