Merry choir members have raised a glass at the official launch of a new line of ales bearing their name.
Director of Sheffield-based Albion Choir, Fraser Wilson, suggested to his pals Sue and Patrick Morton, who own the city’s Abbeydale Brewery, that they name beers after some of the patriotic songs the group performs.
But instead the creative couple chose to brew up a new collection of beverages named after the choir itself.
The first Albion ale, entitled This Sceptr’d Ale, is brewed using freshly harvested green hops resulting in a clean, grassy flavour.
The second, Full English Breakfast Stout, which is described as ‘a meal in a glass’, features oats, coffee, smoked malt and maple syrup among its ingredients.
To celebrate the first ales going on tap, the choir put on a special performance at The Devonshire Cat, Wellington Street, Sheffield, while enjoying a pint or two.
