YOUNG business brains have come up with plans to breathe life back into empty shops in Sheffield city centre.

More than 500 pupils from All Saints High School, Fir Vale School, High Storrs School, Stocksbridge School and Tapton School were asked to think of ideas to transform the former Oasis shop in Chapel Walk into a vibrant space.

The challenge was organised as part of Sheffield’s School Enterprise Champion’s entrepreneurship week.

The top six teams were shortlisted for the final stage of the enterprise competition and had to present ideas to a panel of judges.

Spotlight, a team from Tapton School, came out on top, winning shopping vouchers and a trophy.

Imogen Laycock, a Spotlight member and Year 10 pupil, said: “Our business idea was to create a shop that had lots of different pop-up shops inside.

“One floor would be for lads and the other for lasses.”
