A branch of a Sheffield bank is due to close following a big increase in online and mobile transactions.

Royal Bank of Scotland has said it has taken the “difficult decision” to shut the Northern General Hospital branch later this year on September 1.

Services are to be transferred Fir Vale Post Office so customers can continue to deposit cheques and check balances.

The ATM is set to stay in its place but the nearest RBS branch will now be two miles away in Ecclesfield.
