“I think we are going to do it again.”
That was what SheffEx co-organiser Tony Carroll said on the day of the sell-out one-day business exhibition in Sheffield in June.
Now he’s made up his mind.
SheffEx 2 will return to Ponds Forge on Monday, December 1.
Tony said: “We were overwhelmed by the success and positive feedback of the first SheffEX.
“There was an incredible buzz with people making contacts, doing deals and forming business partnerships.
Nine out of 10 people who attended June’s event said they would like to see another so I’m delighted to announce it will be returning.”
The event featured 120 exhibitors, business speed dating, seminars and even massage. Some 1,500 registered to attend and dozens more walked in off the street.
It was organised by brothers Andrew and Mark McCormick and Tony Caroll, from a ‘standing start’ – no database of exhibitors, no corporate or public sector backing.
Exhibitors included creative and digital companies, lawyers, merchandising and marketing companies, Sheffield College and big banks and charities.
Start-up businesswoman Marisa Thompson was going to be just a visitor but then she picked up on the buzz and took a stand.
The director of Identity Merchandise, of Ecclesall Road, said then: “It’s been non-stop. People have actually queued up to talk to me!”
At SheffEx 2 five good causes will get a free stand.
Tony added: “The cost has been kept low so any company can attend.”
