City cutlery experts have given the thumbs up to a new kitchen blade forged with the celebrity chef’s coolest cooking aid – liquid nitrogen.

Scientists at the Cutlery Research Association found Cryotex Knives (£39.99 for three at www.JMLdirect.com) twice as sharp and three times more resistant than several other blades. Made using cryogenics, the science behind preserving bodies, steel heated to 1100°C is then treated at -200°C with liquid nitrogen.
