Seeking some bright sparks

Companies are being urged to bid for funding of up to £5,000 to help them make use of university research into advanced materials in commercial products.

The Strategic Projects to Access Research and Knowledge - or SPARK - initiative for advanced materials is being run by Sheffield and Glasgow Universities with funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council's Knowledge Transfer Account.

Individual awards of up to 5,000 are available for UK based companies to fund problem solving, proof-of-concept technology demonstration and other development activities involving materials.
