RAIL firm East Midlands Trains could be hit by strike action from a second union over planned changes to staff pensions.

Members of drivers’ union ASLEF are striking today and are due to hold a sixth one-day walkout on Thursday.

During the ASLEF strikes, the company’s only trains calling at Sheffield are a skeleton service to and from London.

Now the RMT union, which represents 700 guards, train crew and station staff, has announced it is balloting members for a strike or action short of a strike.
