A second bus fare rise comes into force on services in Sheffield from Sunday.
The majority of single fares on Stagecoach buses will increase by 10p, and the company’s adult weekly Megarider ticket will increase by 50p. Some saver tickets are to rise by an average of three per cent.
First buses implemented similar price increases at the end of March.
Stagecoach said the rises are down to increasing staff costs and cuts to the reimbursement paid to bus operators under the government’s free concessionary bus travel scheme.
Some tickets - including the Sheffield Bus and Tram Megarider, monthly Megarider bus ticket, and weekly student passes - have been frozen in price, the firm added.
Managing director Paul Lynch added: “Despite low general inflation, many sectors are facing rising costs and buses are no different.
“We still have the lowest fares of any major bus operator in Britain and catching the bus is still cheaper than commuting by car.”
