CRYSTAL Peaks is counting the savings following the installation of solar panels at the Sheffield shopping mall.
The 405 solar panels on four rooftop sites at the shopping complex went live in July. Already they have generated 10.81 megawatt hours of electricity - 22 per cent of the centre’s total energy use for July.
In that time, 13.18 tonnes of carbon emissions have also been avoided.
Centre manager Lee Greenwood said: “In the long term it will help save over 47 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year and provide more than 10 per cent of our electricity needs.”
