AN APPRENTICE has received the best Christmas present he could wish for - a permanent employment contract.

Sam Neale, aged 20, successfully completed a three-year apprenticeship at Halfords Autocentres in Rotherham.

He has been training at the company’s base on West Gate since 2008, and has now received his NVQ level three and technical certificate from Bill Duffy, chief executive officer, at the company’s Solihull head office.

Sam was one of more than 25 apprentices to receive permanent contracts with the company.

Mr Duffy said: “Now that Sam has this qualification, he can work for us as a technician and go on to train as an MOT tester or join the management training scheme if he wishes.”

Sam said: “Knowing I now have a full time job is the best Christmas present I could have asked for.”
