Royal Mail will employ over 600 seasonal workers during the Christmas period in Sheffield.

They will support Royal Mail’s 123,000 permanent postmen and women who sort and deliver the mail all year round.

Around 640 roles are available in the city with Royal Mail and Parcelforce, primarily to help sort the additional Christmas post.

Positions are available from mid-November through until early January 2016.

A spokesman for Royal Mail said: “The recruitment programme is part of Royal Mail’s substantial financial investment in additional resources at Christmas to help ensure we provide the best possible postal service to our customers throughout the UK.”
