A SHEFFIELD company celebrating 50 years in business has received a royal seal of approval from Prince Andrew.

The Duke of York visited P&B Metal Components Limited, on Acres Hill Lane, off Sheffield Parkway, where he unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion.

Paul Bushell, managing director, said: “In these dismal times for UK manufacturing companies, we are very proud to be celebrating 50 years of trading. The company is today stronger than ever.”

P&B now has bases across the world, in America, the Middle East, America and Australia.

It employs more than 200 people and exports over £20 million of products from the UK each year.

During the financial crisis, the company managed to avoid factory closures and redundancies, which Mr Bushell said was down to ‘an abundance of commitment from both the board of directors and employees alike’.

On his visit to the company, Prince Andrew took a tour of the factory and met staff and management.
