First in South Yorkshire is going for gold at a prestigious awards ceremony in London.

Joy Devine, the company’s operation manager for Rotherham business, has been shortlisted in the Professional of the Year category for The Employee Engagement Awards.

The awards recognise businesses and individuals that strive to do things differently and put their workforce at the heart of its operation. In Joy’s category, the award will go to the professional that has helped create and drive a successful employee engagement programme.

Joy has led a programme of engagement with staff, their families and the community which has helped deliver passenger growth. A recent staff survey found that staff at the Rotherham depot were the most engaged with First UK bus business.

Ben Gilligan, managing director for First South Yorkshire, said: “Joy is a fantastic and valued member of the team who knows exactly what to do to get our staff on side. She embodies the values of the business and leads by example in everything that she does.”
