BUS rivals First and Stagecoach’s South Yorkshire have both achieved recognition at the 2011 UK Bus Awards.
First South Yorkshire driver Jane Greenacre, based at Olive Grove depot, Sheffield, was highly commended in the Top National Bus Driver award, while Stagecoach was highly commended for ‘marketing excellence’.
They were selected from over 250 entries in 20 categories from across the country and received their prizes at an awards ceremony at the Hilton in London’s Park Lane.
Jane’s citation said: “She is a perfect example of a bus driver, according to her employers in South Yorkshire. A model professional with an exemplary record for safety and customer service in a tough working environment. Her shining moment came when chosen as the company’s Superstars champion for professionalism beyond the call of duty during the blizzards last year.”
Meanwhile, Stagecoach was praised for ‘maintaining low prices, substantially investing in vehicles, expanding significantly and innovating’.
