A NEW group set up by Bawtry’s traders is hoping to attract more visitors to the town.

The Bawtry Retail Association was set up by business people and shopkeepers who want to raise the profile and reputation of the town.

They are planning to organise events which attract more shoppers and visitors during the day and in the evening.

The newly formed Bawtry Retail Association has taken up the baton from the Community for Bawtry voluntary group, which organised the first late night shopping evening last year.

John Walsh, who runs the Coco Ice Bar in the Market Place, is the newly-elected chairman of the group.

The main objective is to raise the profile and reputation of Bawtry as a prestigious destination by increasing foot-flow to the town and to encourage shoppers to utilise a wider range of the shops and night-life.

The group will run a variety of promotions, competitions and market Bawtry using the slogan: Visit Bawtry, it’s all here.

The BRA will also publish a bi-monthly magazine and the website is already up and running.

The first event is a music day taking place in The Courtyard off High Street, Bawtry, next Saturday, June 11.

Musicians from the William Appleby Music Centre in Doncaster will performing a one-hour concert which will get underway at 11am.
