Residents like to keep it local

SHEFFIELD people are loyal local shoppers, according to a new survey which found a third of city residents prefer to buy from companies run by people from their area.

The study also found Sheffielders began to trust others less if they lived outside a 12-mile radius and that they still valued ‘word of mouth’ much more than information on the internet.

Almost half of the people polled said they had become less trusting with age, with just 4 per cent saying trust could be restored once it was broken.

The survey was carried out by paint manufacturers Dulux, and the results showed eight out of 10 Sheffield folk would only trust a professional to do the decorating at home.
