Reserves for rainy day

Have your say

ALMOST a third of voluntary and community sector organisations in Yorkshire are dipping in to reserves to keep up their activities this year.

Community and voluntary sector support group Involve Yorkshire & Humber says almost a quarter are considering following suit and one in six won’t – because they have no reserves to draw upon at all.

Involve Yorkshire & Humber’s chief executive Judy Robinson said: “Having some money put by for a rainy day is important not just for individuals but for organisations too – especially when those organisations are charities providing vital services to the elderly or other vulnerable people in Yorkshire.

“We need the Government to listen to what is happening in the voluntary sector, value what we do and invest in us.”
