Recycling old bikes will help town mark Tour de France

Have your say

People are being urged to give their old and broken bikes a new lease of life – in a Barnsley art project for the Tour de France.

Stage two of the race will pass through Barnsley’s Langsett area between 3pm and 4.30pm on Sunday, July 6, before heading into Sheffield for the finish.

Barnsley Council is planning to dress the town centre with decorated bikes from March 27 – the start of the 100-day Cultural Festival to encourage public participation in arts and cultural events.

Bikes can be dropped off at Barnsley Markets offices. Call 01226 775746 in advance to arrange a time.
